Hello! I am a fourth year medical student and I will be traveling to Peru for a month this winter. I wondered if there are opportunities to visit PIH clinics around the world like the MDR-TB lab in Carabayllo, Peru for med students to learn more about global health on the front lines? If you know of anyone I can reach out to about this please let me know!

    To Justin Mendoza,

As a part of our Global Days of Service this April, the Community Service Center at Boston University will be hosting a panel on issues and relevant topics relating to public health. We saw that Public Health Awareness Week is in April and we wanted to commemorate that during our panel.

We were hoping that you would like to be a part of it? It would be on Thursday, 4/13 at around 6pm. As the date approaches, we’ll send you more details on logistics. Please let us know if you or anyone from Partners in Health Engage would be interested and hope to hear from you soon!

    Best,

    Giancarlo Rodriguez & Michaela Cushing-Daniels

    Hi there,

I was wondering if you have any summer internship with PIH this summer 2017. I noticed that you had one in 2014 and would love an opportunity to work with your organization.

    Hello,

I’m an undergraduate student at a college in Illinois, and interested in starting a PIH Engage team on campus. When do applications open up for team leaders, and what are the requirements for opening a new undergraduate team?

    Thanks so much!

    To whom it may concern,

I am interested in employment with PIH. I would like more information about opportunities to be involved. I am in EMT and a Clinical Care Technician in the Emergency Department at Tufts. I have applied to PA school and would love to start engaging with the PIH community, learn about employment and volunteer opportunities. I’d love to learn about international placement as well.

Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hello, I have an MPH from UC Berkeley, and I’m a Registered Dietitian. My children are grown and I would like to volunteer overseas. Do you offer that? I have worked only in the US in MCH with the WIC program and with childhood obesity.

I can make a fairly long time commitment. I am interested in Russia or Peru. I don’t speak the languages.

Although I have spoken medical Spanish over the years in various positions. I would be available in what ever country has the greatest need.

    not only those two.

I am healthy, fit and looking forward to using my skills and wisdom and learning more about global health and the challenges.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,

    Karen Cohen RD, MPH

    Hi,

I am in nursing school and am interested in any volunteering with PIH. As far as my experience, I have participated in a Global Health Brigade Mission to Nicaragua with the University of Colorado. Last summer I volunteered in an emergency room in Ghana for a month. I am an older student, 45 years old, and have worked as a medical assistant for four years and took care of a very ill husband for 13 years. I am interested in learning about any volunteer opportunities that you may offer. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

My name is Elizabeth Edmunds, and I’m a student in the Honors College at Clemson University. This summer, I travelled to Costa Rica with Clemson on a medical trip; we set up clinics in the extremely rural areas of San Jose. The required reading for the trip was Mountains Beyond Mountains in which I learned about Partners In Health. After spending time in Costa Rica and seeing firsthand the global health problems, I really wanted to become involved with PIH. I would really like to start a PIH Engage team on the Clemson campus because there are no other organizations dealing with global health; however, the application to become a team coordinator is closed. Is there any way that I can still apply, or will I need to wait until next year?

    Thank you,!

    Hello,

My name is Elsa Rothenberg, and I’m the Junior Class President at Arlington High School in Arlington, Massachusetts. The book Mountains Beyond Mountains, which profiled Dr. Paul Farmer, was part of many Arlington High School students’ English class curriculum this year. Dr. Farmer’s mission has had a major impact on many students, myself included. The book started a dialogue about public health and has ignited a passion in many students to make the world a better place.

The Junior Class Council and I are reaching out to you in hopes that you might be able to help us facilitate a broader discussion about Partners In Health’s mission. We noticed on your website that you help organize lectures and rallies, and we really think that our community could benefit from something like that.

If you could give me any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you so much,

    Elsa Rothenberg

Hi, let me start by congratulating you for the good work you are doing, I am a firm believer that everybody deserves a right to health no-matter there race or location. I’m an African and from Kenya in particular; a country where by birth, one is predestined to the kind of health care they will get. How can we make Kenya a place where everybody has a rich to good health? To give an analogy of the experience here I’d like to give a story of three boys born in three different locations in Kenya. One minute after birth, they have the same right, ten minutes later this changes, an hour later the situation gets worse. The rights of this boys vary depending merely on where they are born. Change the scene and make one of them a baby girl. The dynamics become even more complex. The question I have is, why should this be so? I believe it is wrong and that something can be done about it. Through advocacy, we can change dehumanizing situation find ourselves in.

I am not sure if there are any community groups in Kenya under your platform that I could join to help champion this fight. If not how can I partner with you to start one.

    Thank You

Hello, I am a midwife (a Certified Professional Midwife—CPM—not a nurse) and I am wondering about opportunities to volunteer with your organization. Please let me know if you accept CPMs (or direct-entry midwives) into your program.
