PIH Engage at Berkeley Ebola Teach-in
PIH Engage at Berkeley would like to invite you to our Ebola Teach-in!
This will be an opportunity for students, both undergraduate and graduate, to assemble in a concentrated forum and discuss the current Ebola outbreak. We will have a brief overview of the facts about the virus, some historical context to the current outbreak, as well as current updates. After which we will transition into an open discussion forum for individuals to talk about the crisis and bring up any questions they have. This forum will be facilitated by the PIH Engage at Berkeley Leadership Team, current PIH Engage at Berkeley members, and 3 guest faculty:
Prof. Lee Riley MD
Professor of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases
Chair, Division of Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology
Prof. Nancy Padian PhD, MPH
Adjunct Professor Emerita, Epidemiology
Faculty, Center for Evaluation for Global Action
David Tuller MPH
Lecturer at the UC Berkeley School of Journalism and writer for the New York Times
Our hope, with this event, is to break some of the myths that exist due to the media and to ensure that everyone remains well educated and up-to-date regarding the current Ebola pandemic and its global implications.
