How does "trade" affect public health?
For many global health delivery organizations, affordable generic medicines is what enable clinicians to save lives. In fact, low-priced generic drugs is what allowed the expansion of HIV/AIDS treatment to more than eight million people in developing countries by effectively bringing down the treatment price by 99%. However, if TPP gets passed, it will protect the interest of profit-driven pharmaceutical corporations by eliminating the competition from generic drugs. Million of lives will be at stake due to decreased amount of generic drug production.
TPP will affect millions of patients around the world whose lives rely on essential medicines. Stand with the network of global health activists to defeat this bill.
We, the undersigned, believe that the U.S. Senate needs to vote NO on TPP so the access to essential medicines can be protected.
